Meandering through farmland at the foothills of Mt Hekla, the 7km Minnivallalaekur River, or 'Minni', is a dry-fly angler's dream. The Minni is a quality over quantity fishery; wild brown trout average 3-4lbs, with double figure fish caught each season.
As the Icelandic summers are short, the trout need to gorge when food is plentiful. The first week of July is typically prime time for dry fly sport. Accomodation is in a comfortable and fully equipped lodge that overlooks one of the best pools on the river. The Minni is a four-rod river, which you will have exclusive use of during your stay.
