Cape Verde is an archipelago of ten islands located in the central Atlantic Ocean, 350 miles off the coast of Western Africa. The islands all have their own appeal with varied landscapes, a unique cultural heritage and a variety of activities to suit all.
The marlin are present throughout the year but the peak season is between the middle of March and the end of June. Our fishing guides will always try to fish where the largest numbers of fish are concentrated at the time of your visit and may try other neighbouring islands as necessary. From July to October the volumes of blue marlin are not as high but those that remain tend to be larger. Tuna fishing can also be very good with the peak yellowfin season being between September and December with a lot of fish between 100 and 300lbs. The big eye tuna are often caught when trolling for the blue marlin, as are mako sharks which will also attack the marlin lures.
Other species include wahoo, skipjack tuna, dorado, amberjacks, black jacks, jack crevalle, grouper, swordfish, tiger shark, bull shark, hammerhead, snapper and bream.
Accommodation is either at the Don Paco Hotel or the Blue Marlin Hotel in Mindelo, São Vicente.
Suggested Package: 7 nights bed and breakfast with 5 days' fishing based on 4 people sharing a boat.
