BOSNIA

Bosnia has a variety of rivers offering fly fishing for trout between April and November. We can help you choose a week to target brown trout on dry fly or large rainbows and browns on nymph and streamer, for example.

The Unac River is a lovely mountain river. It merges into the Una River near Martin Brod. The best fly fishing is to be found upstream from the mouth of the river for large rainbows and brown trout. Grayling are also present.

Una River is a beautiful mountain river with many rapids, cascades and waterfalls. It holds wild brown trout and grayling and offers all conditions for fly fishing using dry flies, nymphs or streamers.

Some of the most beautiful fly fishing in the country is along a 5km stretch of the Pilva River which runs from a spring to the centre of the small town of Šipovo. This river offers world class grayling reaching 2ft in length! Small flies and very fine leaders are required, but rewards are worth the effort.

Rich in grayling and brown trout, the Ribnik River is fished ‘catch and release’ only. It is a shallow clear river with fish active all day on the surface taking dry flies, with only light nymphs occasionally required. Experienced fishermen can catch up to 50 fish a day.

The narrow Sanica River has a varying depth of up to four metres. Mostly grayling, but some nice brown trout too. Dryfly is usually most effective and average grayling are 45cm, occasionally reaching 60cm.

The Ribnik Fly Fish company offer a variety of riverside accommodation, such as bungalows and luxury villas. We can arrange all-inclusive fly-fishing programmes, with full board riverside accommodation and guided fishing.
