COOK ISLANDS

Aitutaki is a long way from UK shores but a unique destination for bonefishing and well worth the trip. The bonefish are large and often solitary, so accurate casting and the move of the fly are key to success here. Not a numbers destination, but without doubt the place to catch your bonefish of a lifetime with a good chance for numerous 10 pounders. Bones in the teens are often landed and

often fish in the 20lb plus size are spotted in deeper water.

There will also be opportunities to fish for trevally species – including giant trevally – in the lagoon, along with the ever-present bluewater fish that can be targeted just outside Aitutaki, making it a location that can provide attractions to suit any angler.

Accommodation: We have a number of options here from self-catering beach bungalows to a luxury beach resort. Each offers beautiful views and can be often just a stone’s throw from tailing fish. There are a handful of places to eat that are within walking distance of the bungalows.

Suggested Package: 7 nights self-catering accommodation in a beach bungalow and 5 days’ guided fishing.
