Slovenia’s unspoilt rivers still retain their primeval character, and their beauty is unsurpassed. Fish crystal-clear Alpine rivers, deep lakes, fabulous chalk streams, small brooks and wide rivers.
The Soca is a jewel of the Slovenian rivers. It is populated by the indigenous marble trout, brown trout and Soca grayling. The marble trout can grow to be enormous - the record stands at 44 lbs. The best period is usually late August and September, but excellent sport is to be had from April to June.
The Unec is an exceptionally beautiful chalk stream. Parts of it are deep while other parts of the stretch offer easy access and comfortable wading. There is excellent fishing for trout and grayling.
The Sava Bohinjka is a beautiful Alpine River which flows out of Lake Bohinj before joining the Sava Bohinjka. Brown and rainbow trout and grayling are present.
The Radovna is a small river, flowing through the picturesque Krma Valley. In the upper reaches brown trout are to be found, with large rainbows lower down.
The Krka river is a pure chalk stream with brown and rainbow trout. It is a river of small waterfalls, fast runs and some deep pools. The Krka is famous for its prolific sedge hatches.
