Tierra del Fuego is the ultimate Argentine destination for sea-run brown trout. Once you’ve experienced it, you know that travelling to the end of the Earth is the only way to access one of the greatest fisheries available. Sea trout in the 6-25lb range are encountered daily, with an average of 12lbs from December to mid-April.
Kau-Tapen is the original fishing lodge on the Rio Grande. The fishing at Kau-Tapen has been described as some of the finest sea trout fishing in the world. It has access to 16km of the Rio Grande, the fish average 12lbs and can be more than 30lbs. On the river, short walks and shallow wading are the norm. Single or two-handed rods are both effective. Skate a bomber over a resting lie, or drift a nymph next to a cut-bank for Sea-Run Trout you’ve only seen in your dreams.
The lodge is located by the river and has access to both banks where there is easing wading on fine gravel. Twelve rods are accommodated, and the lodge is extremely comfortable with excellent food.
