Alberta and the magnificent Rockies need little introduction. Our holidays have been put together with fishermen in mind, but touring the Rockies can also be arranged, by various modes of transport. 

Fishing Banff National Park can include dry fly fishing on the upper Bow River, hiking to high mountain lakes and streams, and trolling or spinning for trophy trout. 

The park attracts more than three million visitors a year. Lake Louise, at the foot of the glacier-clad Mount Victoria, is one of the park’s most beautiful spots. The town of Banff offers a wide variety of activities and restaurants, while Canmore and Lake Louise are quieter. 

Accommodation is at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge, Banff Inn or a hotel of your choice.

Jasper National Park is a magnificent scenic wilderness of unparalleled beauty, shimmering glaciers, wildlife, crystal clear lakes, waterfalls, deep canyons and evergreen forests, surrounded by towering rugged mountain peaks. The town of Jasper has excellent facilities and restaurants. There is magnificent dry fly fishing on Maligne Lake for trout and Talbot Lake for pike from June to September. Medicine Lake is fished from August to October, when the lakes drain into a single channel. This lake has the longest underground drainage system in the Western Hemisphere.

Crowsnest Pass Area in the Rocky Mountains of south-west Alberta has more than 500 miles of trout streams within a 50 mile radius. The Crowsnest, the Castle, the Elk and the Oldman are the best known or you can choose to explore small, willowchocked creeks in search of cutthroat or brook trout. If you prefer, you can take a float tube on a pothole lake for feisty rainbows or cast to spooky trout cruising in the shallows of a remote mountain lake. The choice is yours! A number of trout lakes provide great float tube fishing. Dry fly fishing can be enjoyed throughout the summer as there are prolific hatches of mayflies, caddis and stoneflies. 

Country Encounters B&B is located in the small community of Coleman just a short drive from the Crowsnest, Castle and Livingston rivers. Some of the finest trout fishing in Alberta is to be found here. The property is made up of two buildings. The 1904 building on one side of the street has four guest rooms, and the new building on the other side houses five guest suites and Encounters Wine Bar & Small Plate Kitchen.  There are lots of decks and patios to enjoy the mountain scenery, as well as a number of common areas to relax in. packed lunches, gourmet breakfast and dinner are included.
