The Orkla is one of Norway’s best salmon rivers for big Atlantic salmon. Every year flyfishers from all over the world catch between 15 - 20 tons and the average weight in the river is between 10-16 lbs. During the month of June, the average weight can be as high as 20 lbs.
Grindal Salmon Lodge is located about 31 miles from the Orkla river estuary and guests enjoy fishing on a 3.7 mile stretch of river consisting of 17 different beats. This is one of the largest stretches of private water available in any Norwegian salmon river.
Guests have access to two of the best holding pools in the river, Igd Bilde and Pollen. These pools hold lots of fish throughout the season and in June they are prime locations if you are looking to fight big chrome salmon. There are four newly refurbished and very comfortable cabins with twin beds, and there is a larger cabin that can accommodate 4 anglers. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the area. All meals are served in the main house where there is a living room for guests to sit and relax. There is also a small tackle shop stocked with salmon fishing necessities and rods, reels and waders for rent.
Suggested Package: 7 nights on full board, 6 days’ guided fishing and car hire.
