Guatemala is recognised as one of the most prolific places to catch sailfish. The coastline and ecosystem support vast quantities year round. Guatemala holds many official records for Pacific sailfish, including 57 on a fly in a day. Other species include dorado and tuna, and you may hook blue marlin in considerable numbers during the season. Inshore, you will find roosterfish, wahoo, Cubera/red snapper and amberjack.
The fishing is operated out of the modern port in Iztapa at the Pez Vela Marina. Fly fishing and conventional tackle are both accommodated on the fleet of Bertram sport fishing boats.
Accommodation is provided at the private Great Sailfishing Lodge on full board. The Lodge can accommodate up to fourteen anglers in eight bedrooms and eleven bathrooms, all fully air-conditioned. There is also a swimming pool. Located close to the Pez Vela Marina, home of the Guatemala Sportfishing Fleet – it is a short drive each day to and from the charter boats.
Suggested Package: 1 night in Guatemala City, transfers, 6 nights full board, open bar, 6 days’ fishing, based on 4 people sharing a boat.
